Bio

Richard L. Katz was born in the Bronx, NY. He moved to Miami Beach and then San Francisco CA in the 60’s. Currently lives in Marin County, CA.

Education: Miami Beach High School.
University of Florida, BSBA, Graduated with honors.
Golden Gate Law School, San Francisco, CA, Graduated Summa Cum Laude, JD.

Work History: CPA, Jr. Partner in a small CPA firm in Miami, Fl. Controller of Mobilia, San Francisco, CA, a small furniture chain.  Trial Lawyer in San Francisco and Marin County, CA (1969-2012) . Retired in 2012.

Writing Education: Attended the Maui Writer’s Conferences for 5 years from 2000-2008, including workshops with world renowned authors such as Bryce Courtney (The Power of One) and Billie Letts (Where the Heart Is). Attended a week long workshop and seminar in Screen Writing and Novel Writing in Kauai around 2005. Took a creative writing class at the College of Marin, Kentfield, CA in 2001. And took a Screen Writing class at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, CA in 2000.

Publications: Numerous legal articles, a chapter in two non fiction books, Having a Baby, and After Having a Baby and a few travel articles.

Organizations: (Active). The California Writers Club, former state Board of Directors member,  and officer of the Marin Branch. Lawyer Friends of Wine, The Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine, current Cadre Member of the San Francisco chapter.

Marital Status: Separated.
